The Art Therapy Institute
Total So Far for The Art Therapy Institute: $1375.00
What We Do
The Art Therapy Institute (ATI) is an organization of mental health professionals dedicated to the healing power of the arts. We provide clinical art therapy services to diverse populations, empowering clients to develop their identities through the art-making process. All ATI staff have graduate level training in both the arts as well as in mental health counseling. While there are other options for therapy and arts-based programming around the Triangle, ATI is the only art therapy nonprofit offering comprehensive clinical services, community art shows, professional training and supervision, internships, and volunteer opportunities. Additionally, 80% of our clientele lives below the poverty line, yet no one is turned away due to lack of insurance or funding. Finally, many clients are refugees, immigrants, and non-verbal EC students who are unable to access other mental health services due to language barriers.
“Something you should know about me is that I really like art, and art is important. Because if you don’t know what’s happening and you can’t speak the language, you can draw for them, and they will know exactly what you mean.” – Refugee client from Burma, age 7
